Welcome to VoteStauber.com
In the recently released 2011 Citizens Survey for Duluth only 9% gave our public schools an "excellent" and 33% a "good" rating. As for those in charge, another 2011 study of residents in our school district gave the school board a 34% approval rating. Only 28% of residents believed that the board spent money effectively and efficiently.
There's no way around it, things are not that good right now and a healing process for the public must begin. We must work to re-establish the fading faith in our school district. We need to repair the reputation we have with those who feel disenfranchised. We must work with our neighbors and not against them.
Enrollment in the Duluth public schools continues its downward spiral. We must stop the bleeding of students out of our schools.
Public trust in the school board must be restored! That's my goal. Regardless of the effort required, restoring that trust is absolutely necessary to the success of any future operations.
Being heard is a fundamental right I promise to every taxpayer, student, teacher, staff member, and parent. In both my professional and volunteer experience, people depend on being heard. Letting their voices fall on deaf ears is unconscionable.
I bring experience and a necessary reminder of what really works - not just what works in theory. I bring a fresh perspective and fiscal responsibility. I'm willing to look creatively at our budget and look for solutions where others see dead ends. Using teacher layoffs as the go to way to cut costs is simply unacceptable.
It's vital that our system continues to thrive. I was afforded opportunities in our schools that my peers around the country and state simply were not. It's because of these amazing programs and outstanding teachers my fellow graduates have gone on to do spectacular things. We owe that same level of education to every single student who enters our school doors. We owe it to the citizens paying for their education to do the best that we absolutely can.
Please take a couple of minutes to browse these pages. I could use your help with this campaign. Although votes are the ultimate goal, it takes volunteers and resources to be successful.
Thanks, Ryan Stauber
